The pair was due to collaborate on a song for Streisand’s latest duets album, Partners, which featured artists including Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble and John Legend.

However, the duet never came to fruition because both stars were too busy.

Midler tells The Observer magazine, “I would have like to have duetted with Barbra Streisand by now. She is adorable. There was talk of a collaboration on her latest album and I wanted her on mine too, but sadly it didn’t come to anything because we were both buried in our respective projects.”

Midler’s latest studio album, It’s The Girls!, is her first in eight years and Streisand is currently blazing the comeback trail with Partners.
