Brass Tour. The first leg of the tour kicks off on December
10th in Chicago, IL and is going through the middle of February.

songs from her recent release, Bette Midler Sings the Rosemary
Clooney Songbook on Columbia Records. The album, which hit
stores on September 30th, finds Bette teaming up with her
original piano player and musical director, Barry Manilow,
for a loving tribute to the late Rosemary Clooney.

until Thursday, December 4th, 2003

Bette to Sock it To The CBS Eye On Tour...Anyone Remember the Jinx
Clip from De Tour? LOL
So
acrimonious was Bette Midler's break with CBS after her sitcom Bette was canceled
during the 2000-01 season that she vowed to write a tell-all book about it. But
even though she was offered a deal of more than $1 million for a tome with the
working title of Cancelled, the Divine Miss M eventually abandoned the nonfiction
literary project. She's still going to take aim at CBS, though. According to industry
sources, when Midler goes on tour this fall, she'll show audiences a short film
in which she takes on the network in a mock courtroom trial. Hearing
the case will be the Honorable Judge Judy Sheindlin, the doyenne of daytime-TV
justice. The network will be portrayed in the film by an actor-dressed as a giant
CBS eye.
May 18, 2003 The
man who puts the "ants in my pants", Mister V, let it be know to me
that Barry Manilow will not be touring with Bette in concert as many have
suggested. Instead Bette's musical director and conductor will be Bette Sussman,
who has been playing piano for Bette at many a charity function of late. She played
at Bette's 2001 NY NY Benefit for New York that I attended and thought looked
a lot like Carole King....a very striking Carole King! Thanks
for the info Mister Vilanch! Supposedly,
Bette's tour name came about because she is bringing a brass section on the road
with her for the first time....this tid-bette came from Bette's mouth on the Caroline
Rhea show. Hope everyone was able to tape it...it was a keeper.

V informs BootlegBetty that the tour will be postponed due to Bette's sudden
involvement in the movie, The Stepford Wives. It seems the tour will now
start in Chicago, November 7th, instead of Detroit. Of course this could all change
again, but information will be shared as soon as I get it or whomever gets it:-)

The
only thing really confirmed is that Bette will begin a tour this Fall. Of course,
I do have a couple of close dates by very reliable sources, but they both emphasize
that the dates and venues could change at any time for now.
Currently,
the tour is scheduled to begin in Detroit, October 9th. The only other information
I have is that Atlanta is scheduled for some time in December. So you see how
"iffy" this is...The best attitude to adopt is "it'll happen when
it happens" until it's officially announced. If that doesn't help with your
planning, sorry, the world doesn't revolve around you like it does ME!!!!!....(insert
smiley face here). I guess we can ASSUME that the New York date may center
around Hulaween, but then again, you know what they say about assumptions. I suggest
we all keep our eyes and ears open and share what info we can...after all we're
friends, aren't we? Love,
