Well, it looks like Mr. Shaiman and company walked off with 8 Tony Awards last night in all major categories. I loved the acceptance speech by Marc and Scott…so cute and free….thanks for the kiss and showing the spirit behind long term relationships…
On the downside: Bernadette Peters. Well, I tried to keep my expectations low, so I wouldn’t be overly critical. But her performance last night was hardly electrifying…especially if you go back and watch Bette singing it in the TV version of Gypsy or even the version she sang at The Emmy’s. I like Ms. Peters, but just from that one performance, she seems painfully miscast as Mama Rose. But I admire her for taking the chance….
