She was only kidding, of course, when she called her pal Don Henley “pushy.” Bette Midler was in town already to perform at the FleetCenter, so naturally the Divine Miss M did a few tunes at Tuesday’s benefit at the Park Plaza for Henley’s Walden Woods Project. (Midler looked marvelous, and sung some of her greatest hits: “The Rose,” “From a Distance,” and “Wind Beneath My Wings.”) Aside from Henley, VIPs in the audience included actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr.; Paul Tsongas’s widow, Niki; Senator John Kerry’s daughter, Vanessa; and, toward the end of the evening, Sting, who stopped by after his show at the Orpheum. The evening raised an estimated $250,000.
