If they jailed all liars … young Adler would never be lonely.

Rocket Rod has worse to face than being the brunt of jokes.

Knowing Rod’s love of celebrity, he was probably just a bit chuffed to hear that his name was mentioned on Wednesday night by comedian Bette Midler.

Rodney Adler couldn’t be here tonight but I guess he didn’t want to spend his last night of freedom with me,” Midler told the audience at the Superdome.

Rodney had already evolved as a worthy topic to comedians three years ago. Back then it was Vince Sorrenti at the annual Stockbrokers’ Awards who chose Rodney as a laughing stock.

“I was in a lift the other day,” he joked, “with Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Rodney Adler. I had a gun with two bullets – so I shot Rodney Adler twice.”

As a measure, one could almost deduce from that information that Adler has become more popular, not less. One would expect laughs from a group of stockbrokers who are very accustomed to the name Adler. But now it appears he can draw a laugh from an entire general audience at the Superdome.
