Bette Midler Tours Philadelphia International Flower Show

A low-key Bette Midler toured the Philadelphia International Flower Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Wednesday along with her friend Drew Becher, president-elect of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society and Flower Show Designer Sam Lemheney. Midler saw displays from South Africa, New Zealand, India and several other countries as well as toured interactive exhibits designed by MODA Botanica and Schaffer Designs and stopped to chat with landscaper Peter Romano. Since 2006 Becher has been executive director of the New York Restoration Project which Midler founded to help beautify New York neighborhooods. Midler met Wednesday with Philadelphia Green, the Horticultural Society’s urban revitalization program whose mission, like Midler’s group, is to restore neighborhood parks, plant trees, create community gardens and maintain public landscapes. The flower show continues through Sunday.
