LOS ANGELES – Even Bette Midler, the Divine Miss M, was captivated by the viral video featuring Cebu prison inmates dancing to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Bette, asked in a recent interview at the InterContinental Hotel how she thinks the Internet has changed the entertainment industry, answered: “YouTube is an extraordinary resource. You can see the best and worst amateurs. You can see creative people, who normally don’t have a shot, suddenly get a shot. You can also see the finest professionals in any of the entertainment arenas. You can see 2,000 prisoners doing ‘Thriller.’ It’s a library of information.” Read More

Quote Of The Day…

Star Words … Bette Midler
By Marion McMullen on Jul 30, 10 03:37 PM

“ALL of the standards for what people want to see have changed. We are in a very bleak time. It’s not a good time for talent. It’s a time for shamelessness. I used to say ‘shame has gone missing – and that’s a goddamn shame’. It’s like a bottomless well.” (Musicals star Bette Midler on the state of showbusiness.)

Bette on ‘lack of funny women’
Friday, 30 July 2010

Bette Midler has claimed there is a lack of funny women in film – but plenty on television.

The legendary actress, who stars in new animated flick Cats And Dogs, said there was an abundance of high-quality female comedians but they were confined to TV.
