The annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony (Fuse, 9 p.m.) is by now an event of diminishing returns, with those who are doing the inducting (which include, this year, Neil Young, Elton John, Paul Simon and Bette Midler) bigger names than those finally getting in (Tom Waits, Leon Russell, Neil Diamond and Darlene Love respectively).
But the televised (and edited) version of this year’s show, recorded on Monday, features a particularly loopy acceptance speech from a jetlagged Diamond, some humorous musings from Waits and Bruce Springsteen, among others, backing Love in a “wall of sound” jam session that lasts longer than most. Also being inducted are Alice Cooper and Dr. John (inducted by Rob Zombie and John Legend respectively).
