Bette Midler Offers To Send Porta-Potties to Occupy Wall Street Protests

Emmy Award-winning singer and actress Bette Midler offered Tuesday to send Porta-Potties to help Occupy Wall Street protests.
In an interview with Joy Behar on HLN, the multimillionaire also took a cheap shot at the Texas governor saying, “I’m not sure Rick Perry knows where he was born” (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

When Behar pointed out that the residents around the park the protesters are inhabiting are complaining about the mess partially because of the lack of toilets, Midler responded, “Well, they should chip in and buy some toilets. Toilets are cheap. Porta-Potties are cheap.”
She continued, “I’ll send the Porta-Potties down.”
Midler suggested Behar should join her in the effort, but the host responded, “Don’t put me in this with you.”
This lead Midler to wax nostalgic about the ’60s protests. “We did it all the time. It was something that you did, and you did it because you were a citizen and you had something to say and you wanted to support your point of view.”
The pair then complained about how the right-wing are saying the same things about the OWS protesters as they did the demonstrators of the ’60s.
“Close to 50 years have passed,” scolded Midler. “Get a new line than dirty hippie.”
Not surprisingly, they were both “thrilled” that this new generation are demonstrating.
“You may or may not agree with their politics,” continued Midler, “but the point is that they have organized themselves, and they are saying things that have to be said.”
Something that went unsaid in this interview was that Midler is worth $175 million.
With that kind of cash, maybe the Divine Miss M should also send some Porta-Showers and deodorant to the folks protesting millionaires and billionaires like her.
A bit later, when Behar brought up the recent birther talk concerning President Obama, Midler said, “I don’t think Rick Perry is sure where he was born.”
Maybe it’s she that should get a new line.
