“Lost Horizon” (1972, Columbia Classics, G, $25) “I never miss a Liv Ullman musical.” That was Bette Midler‘s famous putdown of Burt Bacharach and Hal David‘s song-filled adaptation of the Frank Capra classic. Bette has a point. In addition to surprisingly insipid songs from Bacharach, “Lost Horizon” is hobbled by a cast of actors (Ullman, Peter Finch, George Kennedy) who look awkward singing and dancing. Still, if you’re a hard-core musical nut, you’ll want to check out this rarely seen, fully-restored songfest about plane crash survivors discovering a Himalayan paradise. Extras: Bacharach demos, alt scene and featurettes.
