Rumor has it Disney Studios/Touchstone Pictures has optioned James Kirkwood‘s play “Legends” which toured the countryside co-starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing, and his book about the show’s development, “Diary of a Mad Playwright” (published last fall).
The rumor continues that Bette Midler is interested in bringing the show, or a combination of the show and book, to the big screen. My guess is she’d be cast in the Martin role, the witchier of the two has-been screen characters in the show.
