Dear Stacy: Bette Midler has been receiving excellent reviews for her first major acting job in the upcoming “The Rose” film. Can you tell me what she was like to work with while the movie was in production? ~ J. C.f Baytown, Texas
Dear J. C.: According to “The Rose!’ director Mark Rydell, “Bette is like a fine thoroughbred horse that dances furiously until it’s put in the starting gate. She was high-strung and nervous, but the minute I said, ‘Go!’ it all became a constructive source of energy she applied to her work.” In other words, everything went well.
