Bette Midler has migrated from Beaches to the riverfront.
The Divine Miss M joined local officials and hordes of schoolchildren Monday to announce a cleanup of seven miles of Hudson River waterfront.
“We love the city and feel that any degradation to it is heartbreaking and unacceptable,” Midler said as she stood at the Little Red Lighthouse beneath the George Washington Bridge.
Midler called the site’ ‘one of the most magical spots in all of Manhattan.”
The cleanup – partly funded by Midler – will involve clearing dumpsites, planting trees and removing rusted cars. Midler has contributed money to similar efforts on the West Coast.
