Bette Midler will be the honorary chairwoman of the seventh annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin on Sept. 22 in Milwaukee. She has produced a video promoting the AIDS Walk and may participate in the event that day.
In a letter to the producer of the AIDS Walk, Midler wrote, “I have long had a deep and personal commitment to the fight against AIDS and I have always made it a priority to support the wonderful people who every day are on the front lines working hard to put an end to this terrible epidemic.”
Mary Turnquist, executive director of the Madison AIDS Support Network, is excited Midler is involved. “We know that she has been extremely supportive of our mission and feel that her participation will attract many new walkers,” Turnquist says.
This year’s walk aims to raise $1 million, $100,000 of which would go to support the Madison AIDS Support Network.
