The get-even comedy “First Wives Club” was the top grossing film in North America for the second straight week.
The trio of first wives – played by Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Diane Keaton – earned an estimated $15.5 million in ticket sales, industry sources said Sunday.
The movie about spurned women who retaliate against their husbands topped “Extreme Measures,” which opened with $7.1 million. “ Last Man Standing” took third, with $4.1 million, followed by the debut film “2 Days in the Valley,” with $3.48 million and “Fly Away Home,” with young Academy Award winner, Anna Paquin, $3.2 million.
“Independence Day” continued to perform well, finishing sixth with an estimated $2.5 million. It has earned more than $293 million in 13 weeks.
Final figures were to be released today. The weekend top 10 based on preliminary estimates:

4. “2 Days in the Valley,” $3.48 million.
