Bette Midler and Earth, Wind & Fire To Perform at FOLD Festival
By Ewa Kern-Jedrychowska | July 25, 2016 5:01pm
The festival, organized by Grammy-winning producer, songwriter and guitarist Nile Rodgers, was originally scheduled for Aug. 12 to 14 at Martha Clara Vineyards in Riverhead, but that event was canceled and replaced by a one-day event Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Forest Hills Stadium, the organizers said.
Rodgers, who also coordinated 2016’s FOLD in London in June, will perform with Chic, the band he co-founded.
The lineup will also include several modern acts, like DJ Cassidy, Alex Newell, EMIN and DJ Nicky Siano of Studio 54.
“Rodgers has personally invited each artist to participate in this year’s one night only event, creating a kaleidoscope of styles, spontaneity, and excitement,” the organizers said.
Rogers, whose Chic topped the charts with hits like “Le Freak” and “Good Times,” also produced Duran Duran’s “Notorious” album, co-wrote Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and worked with dozens of artists, like David Bowie, Madonna, and Eric Clapton.
This summer’s lineup at the stadium included a number of music icons like Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, and Dolly Parton. The venue will also host the City Winery Openon Sept. 17 and 18, which will be headlined by Aretha Franklin and Sheryl Crow.
The FOLD Festival is appropriate for adults and children alike, according to the event’s website.
Tickets for FOLD festival range from $79 to $299 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, July 29. They will be available here.
