“First Wives Club” star Bette Midler will give the first performance of her new national tour in Costa Mesa. The Orange County Performing Arts Center has announced that Midler will appear Dec. 3 and 4.
Last seen in Orange County at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in 1994, Midler began that tour in New York at Radio City Music Hall. This is the first time she will begin a tour in Orange County.
“The center is certainly very pleased to present Bette Midler at the beginning of her tour. She’s a wonderful artist,” said center spokesman Gregg Patterson.
Midler’s “The Divine Miss M” album won a Grammy in 1973, and she went on to star in films such as “The Rose,” “Outrageous Fortune,” “Down and Out in Beverly Hills” and “Beaches.”
After a hiatus from the music scene, Midler returned to win a 1989 Grammy for “Wind Beneath My Wings” and three Grammy nominations for her 1990 platinum single “From a Distance.”
Midler will be accompanied by an orchestra. Tickets, $4S-$75, will go on sale Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Center Box Office and through Ticketmaster: (714 ) 740-787
