HOLLYWOOD – How do you generate interest in an Oscar show when most of the public hasn’t seen the nominated pictures because of limited releases? “You just hope they tune in out of habit,” says Oscar show producer Gil Gates.
He says people watch the Academy Awards in part because “They like to see the stars dressed up and they like the entertainment.”
Big stars he’s got for the March 24 awards, include Madonna, Kenny Loggins, Geline Dion, Diane Keaton, Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, Mel Gibson, Nicolas Gage, Kevin Spacey and Susan Sarandon. Billy Grystal hosts.
