The other night I caught Sandra Bernhard’s HBO special. Seven months pregnant, at the time of the taping, Bernhard wears a tight transparent dress. She’s ‘out there’ in every way!
This is one major talent. She can act, perform outrageously funny stand up, and sing. And I mean she can really sing. She reminds me of another dazzling triple threat gal, the early Bette Midler, before the Divine One calmed down.
But I sense that Sandra is going to be taking her career a lot more seriously now and doing some calming down herself a bit. Raising another human being is no joke. Her old friend, Madonna, could have told her that. But they’re still kind of on the outs.
