  1. It’s also my understanding that Bette turned down the role in “Misery”, that earned Kathy Bates an Academy Award. Nonetheless, I’m very happy for the successes that Bette has had on film.

  2. Yes, that’s the other big one, but they rarely mention it in these articles. I was going to, but I never know if I’m just stating the obvious or if people will think I’m a know it all. I just go from memory.

I really enjoyed the older days when I just said what I wanted to say, and I know this sounds weird, but it was around the peak of BLB and I just didn’t quite understand the popularity of the site even though I saw signs displayed on The Today Show, had met Bette, been invited to rehearsals of Hairspray heading to Broadway. I never got a big head. But the final Hulaween I went to where Bette had Elton as musical guest. For the first time I think they had lower priced tickets to the event. Well, there were lots of readers of BLB there, all nice, but I became so overwhelmed at people pulling at me, following me to bathroom. I never had a moment to eat. Bette had told me to come to her when I got there but everytime I tried to go to her there was a fucking conga line behind me. Basically I’m shy, introverted, but can turn it up if I have to, but my energy was so drained and I had my first panic attack which changed me forever after that. I never did Hulaween again. I think I saw Bette two more times after that, but she could tell something happened., I was experiencing trouble when I met you. I was not the same person I was back around 2004. I guess you could say I couldn’t handle the smallest bit of attention. It triggered something that has gotten worse with time, but I’m trying to pull out of it now. Just needed to get that off my chest lol xx

  3. Always great to hear your insight on Bette and all things behind the scenes. I agree with the part about prices continually going up–especially Hulaween. I thought about going once, but now the prices are in the realm of “corporate donor” status–but I’m not knocking it. When you’re a charitable donation, like NYRP, I think the biggest dream is getting the largest donation. It’s really not for the little people.

Now I segueway into the Sundance Film Festival. I’m only a six-hour drive away, being only two hours from Utah. However, the hotel rates for Park City around January 26 are in the $1,000 to $2,000 a night range–if you’re still able to book a room. I thought it might be kind of fun, as I hope Bette would be there for the debut of “The Glorias”. Nonetheless, I’m going to skip it–but definitely hope it gets picked up by a studio with wide distribution. Bella Abzug was always a colorful character, and I have a feeling Bette is going to own that role. And, less than two weeks ago….hoping it gets good buzz.
