TONY, TONY, TONY: Bette loses to Tony Bennett again. Just give him a life achievement award already!!! 🙂
AND NO SHE DIDN’T: Mary J. Blige singing the crap out of “Be Without You” and then sequeing into “Stay With Me.” Nice job, but could she in the long run pull out all the emotional nuances that Bette brings to it. My mother actually called me to ask if she was supposed to like Mary J Blige now or not since she sang one of Bette’s signature songs…LOL
WEIRDEST MOMENT: Knowing my mother danced with up and coming superstar, Chris Brown, at the premiere of “Stomp The Yard” in L.A. Yes, you read that right. What a powerhouse he was last night…after Smokey Robinson and Lionel Richie. Look for his upcoming movie this Christmas from Screen Gems.
WHAT COMES ROUND GOES ROUND: The Dixie Chicks well-deserved comeback…sometimes you have to go thru some heavy shit to shed light onto the dark. Funny how some see through the bullshit right away and others just follow along without questioning…who coined that word I love….sheeple!!! ?
Young Talent: Nice to see some truely gifted young singer/songwriters out there who can actually sing and play: John Mayer, Corrine Bailey Rae, and John Legend…and let’s not forget powerhouse vocalist, Cristina Aquilera.
STOP ALREADY: Rascal Flatts – if you’re going to keep doing covers of 80’s songs, whatever, please lose the lead vocalist. Let him stick to country.
TO THE POWERS THAT BE: Thank you Jesus for getting Carrie Underwood and her hair to the Grammy’s to accept her Best New Artist Award, one that Bette won in 1973 (?) Too bad he made her sing that horrible tribute to the Eagles with the Flatts (flat – which the lead vocalist seems to want to prove every time I hear him live.)
BEST SNIPPET: Bette singing WBMW’s (audio only) when they showed Ahmet Ertegun on screen.
KUDOS: To Robin Trouth who was voted to sing with Justin Timberlake. Awesome job. You did well girl!
TOUCHING MOMENT: The James Brown tribute with the cape on the microphone stand. Classic!
WTF?: All that frigging paper being blown into the Red Chili Peppers faces when they were performing. Sometimes less is more.
STILL HOT: The Police reunion (awesome)…and just like myself…looking HOT for 50 boys (well, especially Sting!!!)
That’s all folks!
Love, Mister D
