I recently learned First Wives Club star Bette Midler graduated from Radfbrd High in Honolulu, near Pearl Harbor. How did she end up in Hawaii? Kathleen Hayes, Honolulu
Midler, 50, was born on Oahu; her father was a painter for the Navy. But she doesn’t have the happiest memories of high school.
Despite a number of invitations, she has never been back for an official visit. At the time –the early’60s–the students were mainly military kids (Pearl Harbor, Hickam bases), but now, like much of Hawaii, the school is more mixed.
