@Ms. Yuka Takara, of Naha City, who has been active as a free dancer in New York City, returned to Okinawa after an interval of two years, and told of her activities.

@After graduating from Okinawa Christian School, she went to the United States to study modern jazz, hip hop, and tap. She trained hard, and has developed her ability step by step.

@Ms. Sachiko Takara, her ballet coach from when she was five to eighteen, commented, “She acquired her basic skills through classic ballet. It is not as though she plunged into the world only with her dreams. She has the power and shines even though she is small.”

@Ms. Takara passed auditions for the broadway musicals “Mamma Mia” and “Flower Drum Song” and has appeared on stage. She has actively auditioned for several shows and keeps busy with her training every day. In the future, she hopes to write lyrics, compose, and produce CDs.

@Ms. Takara said with a bright smile that her musical will give public performances in Texas, Taiwan, and the Philippines. She is recommending the director to put on a performance on Okinawa.

@She says, “I have confidence in dance. I would like to be an all-round performer like Bette Midler or Jennifer Lopez, and then, to repay my favor to Okinawa.”
