Another singer relatively new to records, “The Divine Miss M” (Atlantic SD-7238) being her first, is Bette Midler.
Miss Midler has been taking Chicago nightspots by storm for the last couple of years.
Miss Midler is a whirlwind of talent that ranges through many styles of songs by attacking each and conquering it and the listener. Here she storms through old rockers, like “Chapel of Love’’ and “Leader of the Pack” ; middle oldies, such as “Do You Want To Dance9 ‘; and
now sounds of “Superstar” and “ Delta Dawn.” The last mentioned is one of the best songs in the whole album.4
She is a very exciting and interesting performer and the album serves as a good introduction.
