Albany
Show Definitely Cancelled
Thank you Nigel!!!
From The Albany Times Union...Now It's
Official
The promoter of the Bette Midler concert
(Clear Channel Entertainment)announced today that tonight's concert
has been cancelled. The concert will not be re-scheduled; patrons
may receive refunds at the point of purchase.
Clough Harbor Associates was brought
in to do an assessment of the Pepsi
Arena high steel and to determine if the weight of the production
elements that are travelling with the Better Midler show could be
suspended from the Pepsi Arena's ceiling. It was determined by Clough
Harbor Associates that the extra weight caused by the snowfall from
the recent storm added to the weight of the Bette Midler production
would prevent the show from safely being presented.
"We looked at every possible method
to remove the snow from the Arena's roof, but due to the domed shape
of the roof and extremely icy conditions on the roof, the snow could
not safely be removed" said Pepsi Arena General Manager Bob
Belber. "We also brought in engineers from Clough Harbor Associates
as well as experts from BBL Construction to see if we could install
a ground support system for the staging elements of the show, but
Clough Harbor Associates determined that the options being discussed
would not work due to the weight of the huge moving production elements
that are in Bette's show".
"We regret any inconvenience to
Bette's fans planning on attending tonight's performance,"
stated Jim Koplik, President, Clear Channel Entertainment - Ct./Albany,
"but the safety of the audience, artists and our employees
will always be our primary concern."
Patrons may return their tickets to
their original point of purchase for
a refund. Patrons who purchased their tickets online at www.ticketmaster.com
will have the tickets returned and accounts credited automatically.
