Attitude BETTE MIDLER SLAMS HOLLYWOOD FOR BEING AGEIST TOWARDS WOMEN The star revealed she was irritated not to be asked to return to the Hocus Pocus remake 2018-06-22 Bette Midler, portrait Bette Midler has slammed Hollywood for its ageist and sexist attitude to women. The iconic singer and actress has starred in a number of hit movies including The First Wives Club, Beaches and of course, Disney’s Hocus Pocus – plus she steals the show in her new movie Freak Show which is out today (June 22). However, news has began circulating about a remake of the 1993 hit Halloween favourite – which also starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Njamy – and although all the original stars, who played the Sanderson witches, are all up for returning to their iconic roles, the studio has decided to cast younger stars. And Midler, whose performance as Winifred Sanderson is iconic, admitted there will never be a sequel with the original cast because she believes there is a “vendetta” against women in Hollywood. In an exclusive interview in Attitude’s July issue, Midler says: “It’s so strange. It wasn’t a big hit when it came out, but it has certainly made its money back since. “They play it monthly, it’s huge. It doesn’t matter how many signals you send, they will not budge, but they are going to remake it with some younger people. I want to see that. “It’s beyond irritating. It’s unfair. The same is true of The First Wives Club. It’s almost as if there’s a vendetta. “You can’t have those kind of hits and not wonder why they don’t pick you up. They pick the men up.” Midler’s new film Freak Show is out now.

Disney’s New Hocus Pocus Book Will Just Have to Be the Sequel We’ve Been Waiting For

Southern Valley News Disney’s New Hocus Pocus Book Will Just Have to Be the Sequel We’ve Been Waiting For 5/23/18 POPSUGAR Disney is finally offering fans a Hocus Pocus sequel – although don’t expect for it to appear on your television screens anytime soon. On July 10, Disney will be releasing Hocus Pocus & the All-New Sequel, a new book that will take place 25 years after the events of the cult-classic 1993 film. The book’s release will also coincide with the movie’s 25th anniversary. (Yes, it’s been that long.) The two-part book will begin with a fun retelling of the film, followed by the aforementioned time jump. Following his first brush with the Sanderson sisters – Winifred, Sarah, and Mary – Max Dennison ends up marrying Allison, and the two share a 17-year-old daughter, Poppy. In the sequel, it’s Poppy and her friends who battle the three witches on yet another chaotic Halloween. Related:   Freeform Is Airing 31 Nights of Halloween This Year – So, Best Halloween Ever? In 2017, Disney announced that it would be remaking Hocus Pocus as a made-for-TV movie. The news was not received well, and many felt as though the original story should be left untouched, while other fans demanded a sequel instead of a reboot. Even Bette Midler said the decision to remake the film was “cheap”! The upcoming book will instead hopefully be able to serve as the sequel many fans have been waiting for Hardcover: Kindle:

Mister D: I’m going to take a wild stab at this and say the mega-watt stars have nothing to do with this. Not only that, but instead of the usual 13 nights, the network has announced they are going to extend the event for the entire month of October, now branded as 31 Nights of Halloween. This Hocus Pocus event is just part of what the network has in store, but will no doubt be something 90s Disney fans will be looking forward to. Freeform’s spooktacular festivities this year will indeed include a celebration for one of the most beloved Halloween movies with the Hocus Pocus 25th Anniversary Extravaganza. There’s A “Hocus Pocus” Sequel Coming But It’s In Book Form – On July 10th #BetteMider #HocusPocus #Book #Sequel

Bloody Disgusting The Official ‘Hocus Pocus’ Young Adult Sequel Gets New Details; Meet New Characters by John Squires May 3, 2018 Bette Midler, Hocus Pocus Book, The Sequel Hocus Pocus, Bette Midler, Book, Sequel Releasing this summer, Freeform and Disney Book Group’s Hocus Pocus & the All-New Sequel will re-tell the original story AND give us a 25-years-later sequel, and the website Oh My Disney today reveals some new details about the upcoming book. Specifically, the site introduces us to three new characters joining the fun… POPPY DENNISON | An introspective aspiring photographer, seventeen-year-old Poppy isn’t exactly Halloween’s biggest fan. (She hasn’t worn a costume in a decade, for witch’s sake!) And she’s also a skeptic of all things supernatural, including her parents’ (in)famous story about their Halloween night twenty-five years ago, when her dad allegedly resurrected and banished a coven of evil witches (yes, those evil witches). When Poppy musters the courage to share her family’s backstory with her new friend and crush, Isabella Richards, she sets in motion Halloween plans that Salem will never forget. TRAVIS REESE | Travis is a math and chemistry whiz, a master of bad puns, and Poppy’s loyal BFF. For a long time, he was the only one who knew about Poppy’s bizarre family history involving the Sanderson sisters. Like Poppy, he doesn’t believe in evil witches or old-timey ghosts . . . until he comes face-to-face with them. As he would say, “I didn’t ex-specter this!” ISABELLA RICHARDS | Isabella seems to have the perfect life. She’s the most popular girl at Jacob Bailey High and has an admirable list of extracurriculars—not to mention a killer report card. It’s no wonder Poppy thinks no one holds a candle to her. (See what we did there?) After Isabella befriends Poppy and Travis at the start of the school year, Poppy shares her family’s connection to the Sanderson sisters. Isabella is itching to know more . . . but why? “Hocus Pocus is beloved by Halloween enthusiasts all over the world. Diving once more into the world of witches, this electrifying two-part young adult novel, released on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 1993 film, marks a new era of Hocus Pocus. Fans will be spellbound by a fresh retelling of the original film, followed by the all-new sequel that continues the story with the next generation of Salem teens. Shortly after moving from California to Salem, Max Dennison finds himself in hot water when he accidentally releases a coven of witches from the afterlife. Max, his sister, and his new friends (human and otherwise) must find a way to stop the witches from carrying out their evil plan and remaining on Earth to torment Salem for all eternity. Twenty-five years later, Max and Allison’s seventeen-year-old daughter, Poppy, finds herself face-to-face with the Sanderson sisters in all their sinister glory. When Halloween celebrations don’t quite go as planned, it’s a race against time as Poppy and her friends fight to save her family and all of Salem from the witches’ latest death-defying scheme.” The 304-page book will arrive on July 10, just before the film’s 25th anniversary.

Bette Midler dishes on first kiss

Bette Midler dishes on first kiss 1 Dec 2014 // by: Music-News.com Newsdesk SCCZEN_24112014splbette2_620x310 The 69-year-old star’s first smooth might have taken place over 50 years ago, but it’s still etched on her memory. She can vividly recall when it happened and how surprised she was. “A guy in high school called Rick Goss. He’d wear polo shirts with little penguins on them. I was 13 or 14. I couldn’t figure out why he’d picked on me,” she told British magazine Hello! “He was double my height. But I figured, in for a penny, in for a pound. And yep, it was unforgettable.” Bette did move on from Rick and is now happily married to Martin von Haselberg. They tied the knot almost 30 years ago but the singer insists there is no secret to their union, as they have found things as hard as the next couple. “I count on Martin a lot. He’s very wise. Sometimes, when I don’t know which way to turn, he explains things to me,” she explained. “He’s been very helpful to me, both as a husband and a mentor. He’s just been great, a real partner. But marriage isn’t easy. You have to persevere. And each of you should have tremendous powers of forgiveness. You also have to bend over backwards to see the other person’s point of view – and then be willing to compromise.” The pair also take their vows very seriously, another of Bette’s tips for a strong marriage, and she is unequivocal when it comes to cheating. “Absolutely. I’ve never cheated,” she said. “I don’t think he has, either. We have a life together that’s very cosy in its way. It’s what we both like. We suit each other.”

Bette Midler Spent Decade Trying To Lose Baby Weight

Contact Music Bette Midler – Bette Midler spent a decade losing weight by Bang Showbiz | 19 November 2014 bette_midler_841840 Bette Midler spent a decade trying to lose weight after she gave birth to her daughter, Sophie Von Haselberg. Bette Midler spent 10 years trying to lose her baby weight. The 68-year-old performer gave birth to her daughter, Sophie Von Haselberg in 1986, and admitted she struggled to shed the pounds she had gained, but now manages to keep a stable weight by maintaining a healthy diet and exercising. She explained: ”I’ve been very lucky with my figure. When I had my baby I gained 60 pounds – this was 28 years ago – it took me 10 years to lose the extra weight. ”Now I keep it up, I do a little running and watch what I eat.” The ‘Wind Beneath My Wings‘ singer sees her daughter as a ”mini-me” after she followed in her footsteps by entering the entertainment industry, despite the ‘Hocus Pocus‘ star warning Sophie that she ”would kill her” if she did so. She said: ”My daughter is my mini-me, she’s an actor. ”When she was a little girl, I told her that if she ever got into showbusiness I would kill her. Fortunately, she was really young when I told her that and I think she really took it to heart. ”She went all through school, she had very good schooling. She learnt Chinese, she went to China, she worked in China, and then she came back at aged, maybe 25, and said, ‘I want to be an actor,’ and we looked at her like, ‘Oh god!’ ” Despite Bette’s wishes for her child not to get involved in the world of celebrity, she supported her decision and gushed with pride as she spoke about the 28-year-old star, who will star in an as-yet untitled Woody Allen movie which is set to be released in 2015.

The 68-year-old diva is asking fans of the witchy film to rise up and contact Disney about making a sequel to the 1993 movie. This all started when Midler answered a question on Reddit as to whether she’d be open to reprising her role as the witch Winifred. “You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company,” she wrote. “The ball’s in their court.” Showing how serious she is about the sequel, the acclaimed singer/actress added, “Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are willing to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company.” Before signing off, Midler told her fans, “You have been SO adorable.
