Mister D: Check out Bette’s Official Site – it has been revamped and looks quite Divine! There will be more to come so make sure to keep checking it out!
I’m going to be adding sites to the songwriter’s section (Bette’s IPod Faves) for those songs Bette has recorded. Currently I am using Darrell’s template (I’ve wanted to do this for a long time – and yes, I had Darrell’s permission for a template.
I will probably just be using song titles and songwriters with links to any viable official sites for these talented people. Once those are in place, I will be reaching out for interviews. A good portion of these people live around this area. Plus, Darrell only went as far as 1982 so I will expand to the present day. However for detailed info on all the songs up thru Detour, please check out www.betteontheboards.com

* Just wanted to let everyone know that I added a rather educational feature to the pages of Bootleg Betty…a dictionary. But you don’t have to look up the word! All you do is double click on a word in any of the news posts and it will bring up the definition of the word and a vocal pronunciation, if desired. Make sure to unblock pop ups for this site if you want to use it.
* Also my friend Andy called me up and left me a message that Madonna was never nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. And to think of all the therapy bills I could have saved on all these years for that grandiose mistake. So thank you Andy. Now I shall have a speedy recovery! 🙂

Mister D: Okay, I got confirmation that Ms. Midler did indeed receive the song, “Good Guy” from Jude Johnstone and loved it. But it has not been recorded by her nor is there a new release on the near horizon. So that was disappointing news to find out. However, it’s fun to know what songs may lie ahead.

On a non-Bette related note:
Since I’m finally getting back to my old self, I got me a gig to perform at a Gay Bear Variety Show – a 30 minute set, thanks to my friend, Bobby (a BetteHead). I am not a Bear, so I don’t exactly know why I was invited, but it was probably because I’m talented and cute…LOL But on the downside, I’m 52. I will probably do a couple of Bette songs, Alice Cooper, Elton John and Robbie Williams…and a couple of tracks from Nancy Sinatra where I would like to rewrite the lyrics to fit the occasion.
Mister D: This subject matter seems to rear it’s head twice a year, but I’m printing it anyway. As far as I’m concerned the jury should just close for Madonna. I enjoy most of her CD’s, but as far as screen acting, she has about as much charisma as a turnip. It’s just my opinion, but her record in movies kind of prove it. Even “Evita,” in which she was nominated for an Academy Award. I don’t know what she did to pull that one off. She didn’t have the voice nor the acting skills to earn that. But we know now the Oscars have become very political.
Singers acting up

Elvis Presley broke barriers as a performer. Here are some other performers who have followed in the King’s blue suede footsteps singing, dancing and acting.
Barbra Streisand: “Babs” won an Oscar for her film debut, 1968’s “Funny Girl,” and continued her savory performances in “The Way We Were,” “Yentl” and “The Prince of Tides.”
Will Smith: Sitting through “Independence Day” and “Bad Boys” (1 and 2) might have been a chore, but “Ali” earned Smith a well-deserved Oscar nomination. He’s drifting farther from memories wrapped around his Fresh Prince character.
Bette Midler: The Divine Miss M was superior in “The Rose,” “Beaches” and “For the Boys,” but she was a riot in comedies “Down and Out in Beverly Hills,” “Ruthless People,” “Outrageous Fortune” and “Scenes From a Mall.”

Mister D: I just found this tid-bette in an interview with Jude Johnstone who wrote “The Girl Is On To You” and sang harmony with Bette on “My Eye On You.” According to this article, Ms. Midler has recorded another one of her songs, “Good Guy” for a supposed upcoming CD.
I had been told a CD was out of the question at this point due to the Vegas gig, but you just never know. Maybe it’s a demo she’s trying out for something later. Maybe it’s for the new movie, “Then She Found Me.” I don’t know, but I will try to find out.
The song, “Good Guy.” is a track on Ms. Johnstone’s upcoming CD. Blue Light
If you’d like to read the article….
Mister D: Thanks to Stephen and Julia for sending me this tidbit. Nice pic of Bette and Billy at one of her Hulaween events. Bette is not talked about in the article, but she does show up in a lot of the comments. They won’t please you, so if you want to make a statement about the comments, here’s the link:
Love Mister D
The auditions will are being held at Caesars Palace in the theater. The time will be between 10am – 3pm on Monday and Tuesday. (August 20 and 21)
This audition is for professional dancers and choreographers…
I just want to stress that Bette will not be attending these auditions. She won’t even be in Las Vegas until some time in October. So if you are going there to get a glimpse, or get in line, or to stalk….you will be very disappointed. I promise! 🙂
Love, Mister D
Culled from the hundreds of casting and job notices listed daily on BackStage.com, below are this week's audition highlights for the West Coast, organized by the day the auditions are being held.
For those of you interested, I'll try to find more specific information

Mister D: I found this interview with the Scissor Sisters when their new CD “Ta Dah,” was first released. And lo and behold, this little Bette Midler fact came up. It turns out they had recorded a demo of a Bette tune for the CD, but it just didn’t work out. So here is what I found…interesting song choice:
Scissor Sisters are redefining pop music with a playful edge; fusing rock, dance, and just about everything else with incredibly well-written songs with hooks that force you to sing along. Baby Daddy teamed up with lead singer Jake Shears to form the nucleus which expanded to include self described “drag queen stuck in a woman’s body” Ana Matronic, drummer Paddy Boom and guitarist Del Marquis
