‘Hocus Pocus’ is Getting a Special 25th Anniversary Edition this Halloween

To celebrate 25 wonderful witch-filled years, “Hocus Pocus” is getting a Digital HD and Blu-ray release. The three 17th century witches, Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mary Sanderson (Kathy Najimy), have become Halloween icons since their big-screen debut back in 1993 and they will be ready for you this Halloween.

In celebration of the film’s silver anniversary, “Hocus Pocus” is being re-released to home audiences with a Trivia and Treats Edition. On September 2, fans can watch it instantly on Digital and Movies Anywhere or you can grab the Blu-ray retail edition. “The 25th Anniversary Edition of “Hocus Pocus” includes the original theatrical film and the We ?? Hocus Pocus: Trivia and Treats Edition, featuring pop up video extras including fun facts, trivia, deleted scenes, cast and crew commentary, and behind-the-scenes secrets. There’s also the Multi-Screen Edition of “Hocus Pocus,” which includes a Blu-ray and Digital Code giving viewers the flexibility to watch the film on different devices. Read More

The Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC), a nonprofit cultural arts center and one of the most successful suburban film houses in the country, will celebrate its meaningful connection to Broadway by honoring two visionaries of the theater community at its gala, BUILDING IMAGINATION, on Monday, September 17th.

Tony-Winning Producer and Emmy-Award-Winning Director Dori Berinstein will receive the Vision Award and Robert Goldberg, a JBFC Board Member and President of Yorke Construction, will receive the first ever David Swope Leadership Award, named after JBFC’s founding board member and chairman emeritus. So long dearie, hello profits. Sort of.

The Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly! concluded this weekend, after an unprecedented run. Original star Bette Midler returned for the final weeks, elevating grosses back to eye-watering levels, with a final frame tally of $2.34 million. During her initial award-winning stint, the show broke its own box office record twelve times.

But for a hit that grossed $128.19 million (more than any revival in Broadway history not called Chicago), some investors have been grumbling. While the production recouped its $15.9 million investment last winter, a detailed report of its finances disclosed that backers only made 5% on their buy-in as of last week. Read More

Yesterday, August 25, the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival of Hello, Dolly! ended its historic Broadway run.

Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Tony Award winner Warren CarlyleHello, Dolly! began performances on Broadway on March 15, 2017, and officially opened on Thursday, April 20, 2017.

This production of Michael Stewart‘s and Jerry Herman‘s Hello, Dolly!, broke the record for best first day of ticket sales in Broadway history, the box office record at the Shubert Theatre twelve times, and shattered The Shubert Organization‘s all-time-record ten times. Read More
