The Golden Globes is the most famously fun ceremony of awards season. So it’s no surprise that the event has had some truly memorable moments over the years. From the first time celebrities stormed the stage to some strange acceptance speeches, here’s a look at the most unforgettable incidents to happen during the ceremony.

The Rat Pack Storms The Stage

When the Golden Globes Awards were first bestowed in 1944, the ceremony was not the fun, humor-filled production it is today. Then the Rat Pack got involved. In 1958, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. (seen at a performance below) stormed the stage along with Dean Martin, livening up the whole event with their bawdy antics. Mister D: Just curious, but is there anybody that disagrees with who is on this list? Is there somebody you would add to it? The only one that really jumped out of the group for me was Meg Ryan. I agree she’s cute, good in her roles, have nothing against her, but I just don’t think she belongs here.

At the moment Hillary dies at the end of “Beaches,” the chorus swells. Even now, 30 years after the film’s Dec. 21, 1988, release, it’s hard not to tear up over the story of two yin-and-yang women and their lifelong friendship, especially with that signature power ballad, “The Wind Beneath My Wings,” driving the emotion home.

And yet, says Marc Shaiman, the film’s music supervisor, that track almost didn’t make it in.

“They wanted Bette to do an original song, so it could be up for Oscar nomination,” Shaiman says about star Bette Midler. “And of course, I wanted the chance to write that song, too.” ...  Read More
