Don’t forget to start sending in your Happy Birthday donations to Bette. Now’s the time to do it…I can’t imagine what Hurricane Sandy has set back all NYRP‘s hard work! To see the instructions: Click Here
Remember tonight is Hulaween, so check back later tonight for photos! They were going to broadcast the party on Sirius radio and I was going to record it, but it turns out I don’t get that channel and I’m not sure if they’re still going to broadcast anyway. If God be willing, I’ll try to get audio if they do…I hate letting ya’ll down…just not sure I can afford the subscription for the extra channes….Those of you who do have Sirius, it should be on channel 110
Jet Set Bodrum
By Simon Mills
31 October 12
Right up until the Seventies, Bodrum was a quiet Aegean sea fishing village of just 3000 people. Until that most decadent of decades, Bodrum’s most high-profile, celebrity visitor had been Hayreddin Barbarossa, the badass, buccaneering admiral of the Ottoman fleet whose uncompromising and violent seafaring ways ensured domination of the most coveted naval trade routes during a large period of the 16th century. Three hundred years later, another type of buccaneer arrived in Bodrum and changed its social profile for ever.
Today, Paramount Pictures announced that instead of opening on December 25, the Barbra Streisand-Seth Rogen comedy “The Guilt Trip” will arrive in U.S. theaters on December 19, 2012. That’s six days earlier than Christmas Day, and places it in the heart of the holiday film season. It will also have a jump on the Bette Midler-Billy Crystal comedy “Parental Guidance,” which is perceived by some as a similar product and might have lead to confusion by consumers.
Social Life Grinds to Halt as Whitney Museum, WNYC Cancel Galas
By Amanda Gordon – Oct 30, 2012
Daniel Loeb of Third Point Capital didn’t do a yoga pose in a photo booth last night at the Bent on Learning benefit.
Citigroup Inc. (C)’s Raymond McGuire and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS)’s Valentino D. Carlotti left their tuxedos in their closets Monday instead of wearing them to the Studio Museum in Harlem gala at Cipriani Wall Street.
And Lulu Wang, founder and chief executive of Tupelo Capital Management LLC, was in blue jeans at home, listening to Brian Lehrer on WNYC instead of being honored at New York Public Radio’s gala at 583 Park.
Arriving in one of the busiest weeks of New York’s social season, Hurricane Sandy forced dozens of nonprofits to cancel their fundraisers. Vendors and nonprofits will have to work out the financials of the situation and determine their next steps.
