I’m Still Here Dammit! – Mister D
My name is Don or Mister D (for the old-timers). I’ve been running this site, Bootleg Betty, almost daily since October 9, 2002, and I feel I still have so much to do. I’d like to thank Nicola for taking the reigns of the Facebook Page. It’s good to know that there’s always something going on.
Anyway, I just wanted to apologize for going AWOL for awhile. I think I’ve only done that once before. No, I/m not going to slow it down. No, I’m not ready to retire, although it may be I might want to start looking for help to finish this project before I die. It’s just gotten too big for one person to undertake. Personally, I don’t think it will ever be finished. There’s so many things missing and you can always find more information than you thought, plus new ideas pop in your head constantly. Well, maybe not for you LOL, but it does for me.

Martin Scorsese Honored at Chanel’s MoMA Film Benefit Awesome Guest List.
NOVEMBER 20, 2018
By CHLOE MALLE?
“Marty Scorsese is not Picasso,” proclaimed Robert De Niro from the podium of MoMA’s underground theater at the museum’s 11th annual Film Benefit honoring the beloved director. “Picasso only needed one frame for Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, Marty needed 2,000 frames for ‘Le Loup de Wall Street.’ ” Six floors below Picasso’s most famous painting the audience tittered. The almost hour-long homage to the septuagenarian director included ghosts of Scorsese past, present, and future, with speeches and video clips from actors whose careers were, and continue to be, made by the director.

Bette Midler slammed for calling Melania Trump ‘FLOTITS’
By Yaron Steinbuch
November 16, 2018
Mister D: Personally, I’ve been keeping myself out of the fray as far as name-calling. In fact, I’ve been doubling down on the Democrats, because they have to get better. We cannot afford to keep revoting the same people in who are not working for us, but the 1%. They are both corrupt and evil parties in their own way. We need desperately to get corporate money out and let campaigns become grassroots like they used to be. Almost every politician is a sell out and that includes Obama and Hillary.
But what kills me is all the name-calling from each side who think they have the moral high ground. And frankly, neither party does. Everything has been exposed since Trump ran and got into office. Presidents, First Ladies, GOP, DNC, MSM. It truly is a goldmine of farce and propaganda. Some of us are really waking up, but it’s taking the masses quite awhile to catch up. You don’t have to be intelligent to see it, you just have to be open and aware. It’s like Bernie Sanders said, research everything, even what I say. You do that, then watch TV news and you’ll see how much of the truth is edited out by all.

The hidden power of community gardens
By SUSANNAH DRAKE
November 13, 2018
As a follow-up to my conversation with Commissioner Silver, I contacted Deborah Marton to speak with her about the New York Restoration Project’s work with under-served communities in New York. The group’s mission states:
New York Restoration Project (NYRP) is a non-profit organization driven by the conviction that all New Yorkers deserve beautiful, high-quality public space within ready walking distance of their homes. Since our founding in 1995 by Bette Midler, NYRP has planted trees, renovated gardens, restored parks, and transformed open space for communities throughout New York City’s five boroughs. As New York’s only citywide conservancy, we bring private resources to spaces that lack adequate municipal support, fortifying the City’s aging infrastructure and creating a healthier environment for those who live in the most densely populated and least green neighborhoods.

Audio Auction: Bette Midler LIVE 1972 NYC club concert reel-to-reel tape unheard ONE-OF-A-KIND! (Take A Listen)
From Wild Honey Records: Click Here
Check out the
Hiding in an unmarked tape box for over 40 years, here we have an entire, never-before-heard 1972 performance by Bette Midler! This in-house stereo recording was made by Continental Baths deejay Don Fendley in early 1972 (most likely on January 15th).
This 77-minute show was recorded straight through (no edits or interruptions) using at least two onstage microphones, which were likely fed into the DJ booth.
This is Miss M. captured during one of The Baths’ famed Saturday night cabaret shows — and as this historic recording documents, she keeps the audience right in the palm of her hand! Bette proudly introduces her excellent backing band (Michael Federal, Kevin Ellman, Lee Gurst and Barry Manilow), teases club owner Steve Ostrow and praises The Baths toward the end of the show. The evening concludes with a final announcement by the MC: “We ask that the ladies — as soon as they can get themselves together — please leave and we can turn The Baths back to us boys and then we’ll have our disco!”
