From Yahoo New: More on the next benefit Bette will attend and sing!!!!:
Stars from Broadway and Hollywood will take part in a one-night-only event to raise money to create the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, which is estimated to cost $9 million.
The evening – organized by the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and Katie Couric, wife of the late Jay Monahan – is entitled 42nd & Vine . . . Hollywood Hits Broadway and will be held at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The many performers will offer selections from Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim’s West Side Story.
Taking a break today folks. Thanks to those that have made my page a success–I’m really having fun with it. The fact that so many enjoy it just makes it more special…..
I may have some new songs up tonight…or it may have to wait until tomorrow…
I want to say that I am extremely concerned and angered about the circumstances surrounding our friend, Mama Rose. I hope that this just turns out to be a prank and not something to really do with NYRP….either way, someone has been extremely hurt…and that is very un-cool, and un-Bette…

I just came across a review of Julie Gold’s, Try Love CD. There is a song on there called, The Journey , which she states was written for Bette but was never recorded by her.
Who is Julie Gold? She wrote From A Distanceand Heaven , which were both covered by Bette.
Now I have 5 songs that I know of written specifically for Bette. As soon as I acquire 2 of them personally I will upload these songs in the music section….no, Bette won’t be singing them, but it will be something different…we can try to imagine what they might have sounded like with our Diva’s touch:-)…
I just bought the new CD of Pete Townshend’s Demos throughout the years, entitled, Scooped-a double header….
Reading the liner notes, he states that he wrote 2 songs for Bette Midler…And I Moved and You’re So Clever. He stated he thinks they never reached her because the producer didn’t think much of them…I may post these 2 songs and the 2 songs the ex-Talking Heads wrote for her to see what ya’ll think. If I do it will be Friday when I usually switch songs out….just something different,
This is an older article that I had read when Divine Ya Ya premiered…wasn’t able to find it until now….one can interpret it in many different ways…but Cindy always seems to have a viscious slant…
NY POST/CINDY ADAMS…
–THIS movie “The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood” seems not to be
creating brotherhood. The chick flick stars Ashley Judd, Sandra Bullock, Ellen
Burstyn. It was produced by longtime joined-at-the-hip cohorts Bette Midler and
Bonnie Bruckheimer, who’ve been together over 20 years, who’ve produced Bette’s “All Girl Productions” blockbusters, who, when they announced they’d make this movie, said: “We’re godmothers to each other’s children . . . we’ve been together longer than some of our marriages.” There was a showing in Hollywood. Bruckheimer, who lives in L.A., was present. Bette, who lives in New York, was not. Bruckheimer said to the assembled: “Listen, Bette’s name is on this picture. But that’s only because it was a contractual obligation. She actually
had nothing to do with it at all.” Ya Ya.

An advance unedited copy of Mark Bego’s new book, Bette Midler: Still Divine has fallen into the hands of a Bette fan of high standing…Mister D, Junior…of course I mean Darrell!!! This is what has been reported to me…remember this will probably be different than the book that finally is in your hands when released:
** The book has 21 chapters…
** 45 black and white pictures (most seen before)
** According to the press letter that came with the book, there should be an additional 24 pics…probably color…
Mr. Dowd was a very accopmpished producer/engineer. Of interest to Bette fans is that he co-produced Bette’s watershed, live album – Live at Last

Just found this…love caricatures and I had never seen this one before:
You Bette it was fun
Talbots PR kahuna Phil Tracey reports that Bette Midler’s annual “Hulaween” hoedown in the Big Apple the other night was a luau of laughs with a legion of luminaries dressed in grass skirts!
Tracey – who rode the wave with 1,000 others into the Marriott Marquis, including gossip diva Liz Smith, former Texas Gov. Ann Richards and vintage Miss America Phyllis George – said the benefit for Bette’s New York Restoration Project was a regular tsunami of fun!

Marvin A. Krauss, one of Broadway’s leading general managers, whose career spanned more than four decades and nearly 100 shows, died on Tuesday in Manhattan. He was 74.
He also managed concerts and events featuring many of the biggest stars of Broadway and Hollywood, including Diana Ross, Bette Midler, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Liza Minnelli and Count Basie.
