Michigan Theater Combines First Wives Club Movie With Divorce Education Class

ANN ARBOR, MI – The Michigan Theater will combine entertainment with education when it screens the 1996 comedy “The First Wives Club” on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.

The evening will feature a post-film discussion on divorce education, bringing together a representative from the University of Michigan Law School and event sponsors for a panel conversation.

The PG-rated film follows three former college friends, played by Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton, who reconnect after nearly three decades apart. The women reunite following the suicide of a friend who had been despondent over her ex-husband’s remarriage. The trio then plots revenge against their own former husbands who have taken them for granted.

The event is sponsored by Ann Arbor realtor Jodi Douglas, Howard Hanna Real Estate and Roessler Financial Consulting.

The Wednesday screening is the first screening in a series called “Living Your Best Life,” which connects UM experts with the community on topics from divorce, immigration, housing and more.

It plans to “give people free information on this changing legal landscape after a fun, popular screening,” a Michigan Theater and Marquee Arts representative said.
