1. More A-List Musicians Will Play Broadway
Bruce Springsteen is changing the game at the Walter Kerr Theatre. While numerous high-profile musicians have created “theatri-concerts” for the Broadway stage — a list that ranges from the likes of Bette Midler to Duran Duran — Springsteen’s solo show, complete with dark, brooding monologues about his life and new acoustic takes on his extensive song catalogue, plays more like Billy Crystal’s introspective 700 Sundays than a career retrospective highlighting his greatest hits. Streisand Still Set for GYPSY Film Says Musto

Barbra Streisand is still set to play Mama Rose in GYPSY movie, despite author Arthur Laurents‘ death, according to Michael Musto of The Village Voice.

The sixty-nine-year-old legend was enlisted to play Mama Rose but then, Laurents decided not to go ahead with it for a number of reasons, including the fact that he didn’t think another movie version was necessary. Then, Laurents changed his mind and the plans were back in place. And then, the writer of GYPSY and WEST SIDE STORY passed away while still in the process of planning, working and directing the project. Read More
