Happy Valentine’s Day to all BetteHeads

Darrell and I have acquired some special gems from the old “David Frost Show”…who? If you have to ask, then I already loathe you 🙂 Anyhoo, we are both featuring them on our respective sites over the weekend. Here’s a description from Darrell’s own Canadian lips:

“These songs date back to 1970 when Bette was performing in the show Salvation, even before the Continental Baths. So be sure to visit www.bootlegbetty.com and www.betteontheboards.com to check them out. They’ll be available for a very limited time, so this is your only opportunity to hear something special. I’d like to send thanks to those of you who have visited and enjoyed our pages, and also to those of you who haven’t. “ Read More

Feb 16: In 1994, Bette Midler testified that her 1991 movie “For The Boys” was not based on the life of Martha Raye. The actress was suing Midler and others in Los Angeles court for $1 million and 10 percent of the movie’s profits.

And thank you Darrell for this:

Let’s not forget February 13-15, 1980 – where poor Bette had to perform 3 painstaking shows while extremely ill during the filming of Divine Madness. An accomplishment not many people would have endured. Read More

Bette In The News Today…Turns Tables On Fashion Editors

Mister D: Thanks to Mark for alerting me….hhhmmm….maybe Bette is getting some ideas for her upcoming tour….Hooray!!!!

NEW YORK (AP) — Bette Midler turned the tables on the press at the Cynthia Rowley fashion show: Instead of posing for the cameras, Midler sat quietly sketching the fashion editors.

Dressed in a turtleneck and sunglasses, Midler said she was just making use of the sketch pad and pencil that Rowley left on each seat. Thursday night’s fashion show, previewing fall 2003, took place in an art gallery, and Rowley said her shimmery skirts and dresses with bow-tied waists were inspired by the women who work in the hip, downtown art world.
