Hey, Bette Midler! I’ve loved you forever! I also would love to pick your brain about my late, great uncle Fred Glaser (hairdresser in the 60’s-70’s —Barbra Streisand). I’m aware you may have met and/or socialized with him via Sue Mengers. I don’t know much about Uncle Fred—my grandma (Fred’s sister) has passed and my father, Fred (another Fred) is also gone. I’d love to know more about Fred—I do know he was gay—and respect him for all his accomplishments and his decision to come out and live fully with his partner. He was loved for who he was fully and always—though as I child I never heard anyone talk about his life after he left his hometown, London Mills, Illinois, on the banks of the Spoon River. My dad, Fred, and Fred Glaser share an incredible likeness and it makes my heart trip when I see images of Uncle Fred—I miss my dad and grandma so very much. And seeing our strong family jawline reminds me from “whence I come.” Do you remember Fred? Thank you, Bette, for being you. My mom and I went to your concert in the Quad Cities, Illinois, years ago—and we had the best damn timer ever—hell of a show- HELL OF. PERFORMANCE!!!! You blew our socks off, lady!!! (I knew you would) What a voice, what a phenomenal performer, what a damn fine lady you are. All the best to you and yours, Bette Midler. Carol
