Audio: Bette Midler – Get It On – From The Movie Scarecrow In A Garden Of Cucumbers (1972)

In Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers, directed by Robert J. Kaplan, Midler provided vocals for the soundtrack, which includes songs written by composer Jerry Blatt and lyricist Marshall Barer. One confirmed song she sang is “Strawberries, Lilac, and Lime,” a lullaby featured in a fantasy sequence. Another song from the film, “Get It On,” is credited to Blatt and Barer and appears in some documentation of the soundtrack, sung by Bette Midler and Mike Lincoln.

The film itself follows Eve Harrington (played by Holly Woodlawn), a small-town girl pursuing stardom in New York, with Midler’s contribution being vocal rather than an on-screen role. Her involvement is often noted alongside cameos like Lily Tomlin’s, though Midler’s presence is primarily through the music.
