In a first-look photo from the upcoming movie The Fabulous Four, Bette Midler, 78, dons a wedding dress and veil and sits in a stagecoach while costars Susan Sarandon, 77, Megan Mullally, 65, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, 67, beam at the camera.
According to a synopsis, the comedy “follows three lifelong friends who travel to Key West, Florida, to be bridesmaids in a surprise wedding of their college girlfriend Marilyn.”
“Once there, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past rises again in all its glory, and there are enough sparks, drinks, and romance to change all their lives in ways they never expected,” the synopsis adds.
Directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse (How to Make an American Quilt, Proof) the film also stars Bruce Greenwood and Sons of Anarchy alum Timothy V. Murphy.
Sissy Spacek was originally part of the cast. Still, she was later replaced by Ralph, who won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2022 for her work on the ABC show Abbott Elementary.
Grammy-winner Midler has also had plenty of experience flexing her comedy muscles in her theatrical concerts and movies, such as Ruthless People, Outrageous Fortune, Big Business, and Hocus Pocus.
Mullally became a household name for playing boozy, sharp-tongued Karen Walker on NBC’s Will & Grace (for which she also won an Emmy).
Oscar-winner Sarandon has had audiences laughing in movies like A Bad Moms Christmas and the Saturday Night Live sketch “Motherlover.”
The Fabulous Four is in theaters July 26.
