Soundtrack: “The Women”

For those who are interested, the soundtrack for “The Women” is being released September 12, 2008. No, Bette doesn’t have a song on the damn thing, but there are some interesting artists gathered for the event:

1. Count on Me – Lucy Schwartz (end credits)
2. Happiness – Goldfrapp
3. The Races – The Bird and The Bee
4. I’ll Cry For The Both Of Us – Jessie Baylin
5. Everything Good – Ruby James
6. I Feel It All – Feist
7. Womankind – Annie Lennox
8. Someday Soon – KT Tunstall
9. After the Rain – Little Dragon
10. Money Can’t Buy It – Annie Lennox
11. Beautiful – Lucy Schwartz (opening credits)
12. It’s a Boy – Mark Isham

  1. I’m a little sad that they don’t have that fun mix of Duffy’s “Mercy” on it that they use in the trailer. I think I’ll buy it though: two Annie Lennox songs, KT Tunstall, Goldfrapp, and Feist are all faves of mine!

Unlike most Bette films, I’m not seeing this one on opening night. We’re going on Saturday because we’re going to have a “Girls’ Night Out” where we watch the original in the afternoon, get in drag, cocktail it, then go see it…afterwards we’ll storm the bars. 🙂 I’m so excited!!!

  2. Hey guys,
I dont think i will be buying this in a hurry, but i will have to watch the movie.
Also i was just looking on IMDb and it says Bette’s character is called Leah Miller, but before when i looked it was Flora DeLave.
Did i miss something coz im a little confused 🙁

  3. Hayley:

Approximately a year ago, I posted Bette’s character’s name was to be Leah, but then somebody on IMDB posted it as Flora which I think was the character’s name in the original.

The problem with IMDB is that almost anybody can post stuff, so you have to be careful with that site. It’s great but not always accurate…

  4. I say the movie last night and Bette was great! Her role was small but so important to the film and Mary’s empowerment! Go Bette! I came home and bought the soundtrack and I have to say I have been a huge Bette fan since “The Rose”, but as I was listening to the soundtrack I was very taken with Ruby James, she has a very similar quality to Bette vocally. So I am now buying her music too. Funny that I found them both through a movie….how cool is that?

  5. Thanks so much for the info Mary!!! Glad you’re a fan.

I just got the soundtrack, so I’ll listen close to this new talent…

    Take care,

    Mister D

  6. I have always been a big Bette fan and have seen her live twice, and yes she only had a small part in the movie. I, too was in hopes that maybe she had a song on the soundtrack, but after hearing it and discovering this chic, RUBY JAMES, it was all I needed to be satisfied. Not only is her voice awesome, but her lyrics will stay in your head until you go crazy wanting to learn more about her. OMG, I could not believe this chic is an unsigned artist! Maybe she is working on that, but if not, someone has a good catch out there when they find her. Her guitar player is awesome as well, but may I suggest, go get the soundtrack, you won’t be sorry.BetteUwill!
