Wow, never knew JJ had recorded it. In a way, it’s frenetic energy reminds me of The Rose version. I’m curious if BM ever heard it or even more if it had played into the decision for it to be used in the film.
I believe I read somewhere that it was Bette Midler’s idea to use this song in the movie. Or did I hear it in an interview… Anyway, I’m pretty sure that it was her who brought it along.
It was her decision to bring the song in….although at the time I don’t think she knew of Janis’s version or else we might not have ever gotten Miss M’s….

I was nver a JJ fan even then. The version BM did will always stand alone. She is one of a kind.
