Teenager In Love

Teenager In Love
(Doc Pomus, Mort Shuman)

Tid-Bettes: Bette performed this number regularly at the Continental Baths, and she would bring audience members up on stage with her to sing the backup. She also performed the song on The Tonight Show in 1970 where she had Johnny Carson, Ed McMahon and Doc Severinsen perform the backup. Bette recorded this song for her debut album The Divine Miss M, but it remains unreleased.

Oooo-Wooo-Wahha-Ooooo
Whop Whop Whop
Oooo-Wooo-Wahha-Ooooo
Whop Whop Whop

Each night we have a quarrel
It almost breaks my heart
For I am so afraid
One day we will have to part
Each night I ask the stars up above
Why must I be a teenager in love

One day I feel so happy
The next day I’m feeling sad
Well I guess I’ll learn to take
The good with the bad
Each night I ask the stars up above
Why must I be a teenager in love

I cried a tear
For nobody but you
I’d be a lonely one
If you should say we’re through

Well, if you want to make me cry
That won’t be so hard to do, baby
And if you should say goodbye
I’d still go on loving you
Each night I ask the stars up above
Why must I be a teenager in love

Oooo-Wooo-Wahha-Ooooo
Whop Whop Whop
Oooo-Wooo-Wahha-Ooooo
Whop Whop Whop
Oooo-Wooo-Wahha-Ooooo
Whop Whop Whop
