I admit, at first, that I did not want to hear WBMW. It is my favorite song of all time but I did not want it to come across cliche , in the moment. But the moment she opened her mouth and the voice came out, my tears flowed and I was glad she did it. 🙂
I liked the performance. Have watched it numerous times. However, while I’m sure many were moved as we all were, I heard from several others they thought she didn’t sound her best. It hurts me to even type that but that’s what they said. Bette is so much more than WBMW and I’m afraid so many will never know that. I am secretly hoping she’s retiring the song and it can be put to rest.
I always thought that it was going to be WBMW coz I was thinking, if not, which of her songs? It is always different when she is the one singing the song – it gets right through my heart and all the emotions that go with it just like the first time I heard it played in the movie “Beaches” a gazilion years ago :-)). The awards night was seen by approx. 43 million peeps and the feedback on her performance was overwhelming :-)) and I just loved it and was just soooo PROUD of her. And yes I felt like she won the gold in the Olympics! 🙂 xoxoxox
I LOVED IT!!! Although to be fair, I’d love her if she were croaking like frog doing the bunny hop! She sounded different, but WTF, she IS 68 yrs old! People’s voices change and it isn’t as easy to hit those high notes! She sounded beautiful! Different doesn’t mean worse…she was still great and always will be! She is THE DIVINE after all!!!
I absolutely loved it!
When I heard she was going to sing at the ceremony, I had hoped it wouldn’t be WBMW, I had hoped for In My Life, but she made the right choice. Perfect for the moment.
I read the comments online that she had trouble singing it, couldn’t hit all the notes. I think she was Divine. Many singers voices change as they get older and I think we & they have to accept that.
Bette is wonderful and I thank her singing at the ceremony and hope, hope and hope that we will have a new record soon and maybe a tour.
Love you Bette and Thank You!!!!
BTW you looked Beautiful that night.
