Don, thank you so much —as always– for this stuff. You and this site bring me so much joy, I’ll never know how to thank you. Could I possibly ever have a chat with you?

Mr. D.,
Thank you so much for posting this. I was lucky enough to be an extra when Bette filmed her concert scenes at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. I believe it was May 1978. They kept telling us that Bette was playing someone called ‘The Rose’ and if we yelled out her name to say ‘Rose’ and not ‘Bette.’ When she came out on stage, there were no traces of the Bette I had seen in concert over the years, but this crazy dynamo of a singer called the Rose. She was the epitome of a wild, 60s rock singer. During breaks in the filming, Bette addressed the crowd in the theatre telling us how happy she was that we were a part of her film debut and what a magnificent experience this was for her. I’m in my early 60s now and I will never forget it!
Sounds awesome. I guess I missed that by a few years…glad you got to experience it xx
