An acclaimed night club entertainer, Bette Midler, will bring her act to Cleveland’s Music Hall January 20 at 7:30 p.m: The show is being sponsored by Radio WMMS and Belkin Productions.
AFTER RECENT guest appearances on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show, Miss Midler has caused a stir in the entertainment world. Some have called her a cross between Barbra Streisand and Tiny Tim. She parts her hair in the middle and wears it curly and rather messy.
Her costume could be fifties with gold lame pedal pushers and a halter top or a funky, filmsy print dress such as she models in the current issue of “Harper’s Bazaar.”
MISS MIDLER has’an outstanding voice which she uses to do songs from the forties, old Carmen Miranda tunes, Andrews Sisters numbers and songs from the fifties all-girl rock groups like the ShangriLas and the Shirelles.
Very often she’s dreary and soft then makes an abrupt change to “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B,” a song the Andrews Sisters sang in an Abbott and Costello movie.
Her first record album has been released under the title “The Divine Miss M.”
