Mister D: To the people on social media who could not understand why a daughter reading a beautiful speech by her mother who was being awarded a type of lifetime achievement award for her extraordinary work, I just don’t understand you. It would be so easy to get caught up in the emotion of it all. Maybe you are just heartless or didn’t have that kind of relationship with your mother. But don’t denigrate a daughter whose mother inspired so many and gave her daughter all the love she could muster, don’t say she’s faking it, because you have not stood in her shoes. I hope one day everyone would have a chance like this and not withhold tears of joy and admiration for their mothers.
I put up two videos: the first one shows the clips of Bette during her heyday with Disney and then the speech. But the sound isn’t as good as the second clip which just shows Sophie giving the speech.
During the 2019 Disney Legends Ceremony, Bette Midler was one of twelve awarded the honor of being a Disney Legend for her performances in Hocus Pocus, Beaches, and a slew of other Disney films. Unfortunately, Bette couldn’t make it due to weather, but her daughter accepted the award on her behalf.
Disappointed that Bette wasn’t there but Sophie did an amazing job! Not sure how anyone could have a problem with that.

I thought she was adorable. People are just assholes. fuck them. While they waste energy on sth stupid, she’s having a life of her own. And, apparently, she’s enjoying it too. LOL!
