Becoming Bette Midler’s Bodyguard – An Interview With Hollywood Stunt Man Steven Lambert

Throughout the years Steve rubbed shoulders with all the “who’s who” of the action adventure crowd in Hollywood; big budget, low budget, directors, actors, producers and name stars – the likes of Steven Spielberg, Chuck Norris, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean Claude Van Damme, James Cameron, Michael Dudikoff, and if I might say so yours truly included. He was the action double and personal friend of actor James Woods for many years in many movies.

In Part 3 of our series of videos with Steven Lambert, he talks about his experiences of working as a bodyguard to Bette Midler during the making of the film The Rose, including a memorable first meeting with the famed singer/actress!

The film was loosely based on the life of Janis Joplin, as it follows the life of a self-destructive rock star in the late 1960s, who struggles to cope with the pressures of her career. However, during the making of the film, it turns out that there was as much alcohol and drug use behind the cameras as there was in front of them!

In Part 4, Steven Lambert will talk about his experience of meeting and working with martial arts and Blaxploitation icon Jim Kelly, so be sure to be subscribed to the channel to catch that!

  1. I was an extra in the concert scenes of THE ROSE. I, and the people around me, were not high nor drunk. We started filming at 10 a.m.
