Small Parts: Disney’s New Take On Outrageous Fortune

SEARCHLIGHT PICTURES’ DEVELOPING NEW MOVIE “SMALL PARTS”

Following the success of Searchlight Pictures’ “Theater Camp,” Disney’s independent film division has signed Molly Gordon to develop a brand new movie called “Small Parts.”

This new movie is a fresh take on the blockbuster comedy Outrageous Fortune, which was originally released in 1987 and starred Shelly Long and Bette Midler.

Molly Gordon and Allie Levitan are co-writing the new movie. Molly currently stars in the FX series The Bear, and Allie Levitan has previously worked on Our Cartoon President.

It tells the story of two actresses who clash on a scrappy indie movie set and accidentally find themselves entangled in a game of cat-and-mouse that is more outrageous than any movie.

Searchlight Pictures’ SVP of Production, Taylor Friedman, oversees the project.

Deadline has not revealed any other details about the project, such as whether it will be released theatrically or on Disney’s streaming services, Hulu and Disney+.
