Let’s step into the glamorous world of the Graydon Carter’s Air Mail Event, where Italian flair, fashion, and star-studded moments collide in a dazzling soirée.
“From Italy, With Love”: A Stylish Affair
The Setting: On a Thursday night, the first floor of the Academy Mansion on the Upper East Side of New York City was transformed into a lively scene. Picture a sprawling party with echoes of the 1920s—a setting that exuded nostalgia and elegance.
The Hosts:
Graydon Carter, legendary editor and co-founder of Air Mail, played the role of master of ceremonies. His name alone conjures images of literary salons, A-list gatherings, and impeccable taste.
Olivier Bron, Bloomingdale’s CEO, joined forces with Graydon to bring their vision to life.
Italian Touches Everywhere:
The theme? “From Italy, With Love.” And love it they did!
Guests were greeted by nods to Italy throughout the party. Imagine strolling past a gelato cart in the courtyard, sipping a Negroni, and indulging in Italian culinary delights.
The food installation by artist Laila Gohar featured cubes constructed from Italian assortments: olives, tomatoes, and mozzarella. A feast for the senses!
Star-Studded Attendees:
The guest list read like a Hollywood script:
Isabella Rossellini, the iconic actress and model, cohosted the event. Her connection to Italy? Growing up in Rome and shuttling between continents due to her parents’ film business.
Bette Midler, the Divine Miss M herself, graced the soirée. Imagine her wit and charisma lighting up the room.
Tiffany Haddish, the irrepressible comedian, brought her signature energy.
Designers like Stacey Bendet and Peter Som added their creative flair.
Air Mail contributors, including Jill Kargman and Amy Fine Collins, mingled with the crowd.
Operatic Surprise:
As DJ Stretch Armstrong’s playlist played, suddenly, the sound of opera filled the air.
Opera star Erin Morley appeared on the courtyard’s second-floor Juliet balcony, accompanied by tenor Jamez McCorkle. Together, they performed a Puccini composition—a fitting tribute to the centenary of the composer’s death.
Fashion, Flair, and La Dolce Vita:
The evening was a celebration of style, culture, and the magic of Italy. It’s as if the spirit of Fellini himself danced through the mansion’s corridors.
And there you have it—the Graydon Carter’s Air Mail Event, where fashion met Italian romance, and the stars aligned.

OMG Isabella Rossellini looks so beautiful. My dad adored her, he would see anything she was in. He thought she was gorgeous. Everytime I read about her I think of him.
Martin wearing his trademarks shirts I looove (we wear so many of those here) and Bette looks her usual fabulously charming self…
