The city’s typically buttoned-down chief executive, fresh off beating term limits, took on hair extensions for his ’60s flashback with the cast of “Hair” at Saturday night’s Inner Circle dinner.

Mayor Bloomberg – yes, his birth sign is Aquarius – rehearsed in tinted shades, a flower-powered shirt and a headband for his eighth (and totally grooviest) appearance yet at the annual event.

In the past, Bloomberg cavorted with the casts of “The Little Mermaid,” “Mary Poppins” and “Spamalot” at the charity fund-raiser.

This year, he went full-on psychedelic – looking like the sexagenarian love child of Howard Stern and Janis Joplin.

During his skit at the Hilton Hotel he got a surprise visit from “Jersey Shore” reality princess Nicole (Snooki) Polizzi and Mike (The Situation) Sorrentino, who flashed his abs.

“If you’re doing a show with hair, don’t you think I should be part of it?” Snooki asked during the skit, “Mair: 3 Terms of Peace and Music.”

The trippy-hippie makeover is a new look for Bloomberg, who normally avoids the tie-dye of Woodstock Nation in favor of black tasseled loafers, red ties and monogrammed dress shirts.

But the peacenik leader, true to his radical spirit, announced a new initiative for the city: “Bette Midler will help us plant one million pot plants in the next 10 years.”

He even boasted of fighting crime by driving down the “FratStat” numbers.

“I’ve already brought crime down at frat parties,” he said. “Peeing in the bushes has dropped 15%.”

Earlier at rehearsals, Bloomberg joked with former “American Idol” singers Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young, showing off his bell-bottomed jeans and flashing a peace sign.

Despite the dramatic change in appearance, Bloomberg’s long-haired production won’t eclipse the most stunning mayoral performance ever.

That title still belongs to Rudy Giuliani, who donned a dress, blond wig and lipstick – and then sang in a high-pitched falsetto – for his 1997 spoof with the cast of “Victor/Victoria.”
