Al Pacino, Bette Midler in for HBO Film
Posted by Jacob Klein | Posted in HBO News | Posted on 24-05-2011
HBO is producing a film based on Phil Spector’s murder trial. Pacino will portray Spector himself while Bette Midler will play the role of his defense lawyer, Linda Baden. The film will focus on his first murder trial over the killing of actress Lana Clarkson.
Also joining the cast of the telefilm – written and directed by Academy Award nominee David Mamet (Wag the Dog) – is Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), who will play Bruce Cutler, a attorney on Spector’s defense team.
(Spoiler alert for those not familiar with the case) In 2007 this trial was declared a mistrial and thrown out of court. The film is about Ms Baden and Mr Spector’s relationship during said trial. Look for more information about this HBO film as we get it!
Mister D,
anything more concrete from your “official” source? Pacino seems busy filming Gotti later this year; do you know more about a possible schedule? Let’s pray this is more than just wishful thinking or another rumor…
HBO has not green lit the project yet, but Bette has signed on if it is…not a rumor. Would probably be ready for next season. There is no title yet…just an A list cast of stars, directors, and producers who have signed on…..it’ll get made
Dear Don,
do you know if it will be a Musical? Is Bette going to sing in it?.
Love!!
Eze
No…this will be a docudrama….based on a real story
It sounds interesting….. So much fun for Bette!!!
